PROSEU survey launch: New Energy for Europe with RES Prosumer Initiatives

Who are the RES Prosumers in Europe? What motivates them to produce their own renewable energy? Who supports them and what obstacles did they have to face? A survey amongst renewable energy Prosumer initiatives from 9 European countries, to be launched in the framework of PROSEU, should help us answer these question.

Prosumer initiatives all over Europe exploit technological advances to challenge energy market structures and institutions and thereby locally push energy transitions. To better understand what facilitates the active participation of citizens in energy transitions across Europe, PROSEU project partners examine the challenges that Prosumers of renewable energy sources (RES Prosumers) are facing. We focus on collective prosumer initiatives, which includes energy cooperatives or energy communities, organisations that produce for self-consumption, public-private or other forms of partnerships for RES energy production and self-consumption.

How to better find out than asking directly the most concerned: representatives of such initiatives? The results of this survey will map the current extent of prosumerism as well as its potential across Europe and hopefully feed into new policies for renewable energy Prosumers. As such, it will help spread the Prosumer phenomenon in Europe and contribute to a transition to clean, low carbon energy.

Are you one of those RES Prosumer initiatives? Or are you supporting such initiatives in one way or the other? Then you might be interested to join the PROSEU Community of Interest. Its purpose is to connect RES Prosumer initiatives and their stakeholders, to help them network and exchange knowledge and know-how. All members of the Community of Interest will feature on an interactive map on the PROSEU Website and will be the first ones to receive invitations for workshops with the aim of exchanging knowledge among RES Prosumers and other renewable energy stakeholders in the same region, with similar energy sources or working structures.

If you would like to participate in the project, you can fill in the survey here. It is available in eight languages: Croatian, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

You can also join Prosumer Community of Interest group on LinkedIn, to exchange with other RES Prosumer initiatives.
